About the Department

Located in the thriving and vibrant city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Department of Pediatrics, University of Manitoba, houses the academic and clinical activities of over 100 full time Faculty Members, along with many cross appointed experts involved in research, education and care for children in the province of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut.

Dr. Terry Klassen, MD, MSc, FRCPC is Head of the Department and Medical Director of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s Child Health Program. He leads with a strong focus on family centered care, excellent education, innovative research, and the fostering of leadership.

The Department offers a variety of educational programs, including Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Continuing Medical Education programs. For the purpose of Research, the Department partners with the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM).

The main sites and affiliations are the University of Manitoba, HSC - Children’s Hospital, St Boniface General Hospital, CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), Specialized Services for Children and Youth (SSCY), St. Amant, the Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF) and the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.
