Learning through Simulation

Advanced Clinical Skills Labs

Some of the best parts of this amazing specialty involve using our technical skills to help our patients.  Even after participating in more than 3000 deliveries, I still get a rush when I deliver a baby.  These techniques are not learned overnight and mastery does not come without some serious “Time on Task”.  Our hands-on labs provide opportunities for developing advanced clinical skills using simulation while having fun learning.  Our students have told us that some of the most daunting tasks they encounter are the challenges of being accepted by patients and developing a meaningful role in the clinical environment.  Using techniques learned at the Harvard Course in Advanced Simulation, we have developed a rich program that will ensure that our medical learners begin to develop excellent clinical skills, but will also will challenge them to discover their role as a effective member of the health care team.
