Resident Education

Dr Alon Altman, H.BSc., MD, FRCSC.  Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, University of Manitoba

Gynecologic Oncologist, CancerCare Manitoba

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; at the University of Manitoba.  On behalf of the entire faculty I am honoured and excited to chair this exciting team for resident education.  Our program has a long and rich history encompassing researchers; scientists; and specialists.  Our faculty and residents are accomplished on many national and international levels.

As program director my goal is to bring enthusiasm and direction to our Department.  I have participated in multiple national educational forums, including Co-Chairing the Canadian Obstetrics and Gynecology review program, participating in both specialty and sub-speciality committees for the Royal College.  In my current role as Director of Education, for The Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada, (GOC), I will continue to direct national gynecologic oncology education, which will guide me, as we continue to build on the exceptional structure that currently exists at the University of Manitoba.

Dr Deborah Robinson, MD, FRCSC
Assistant Program Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Manitoba

Service Chief, Obstetrics, St Boniface Hospital

I am in full time private practice as a general obs/gyn at St. Boniface Hospital and I am also the assistant program director for the resident program. I work alongside Dr. Altman in all aspects of resident selection, program development, resident evaluations and mentorship.  We strive to create a collegial learning environment with a strong focus on clinical skills through exposure to a wide range of obstetrical and gynecological encounters. Our PGME committee is constantly evaluating the program to ensure residents have the best possible chance of being ready for independent practice upon completion of the program.
