Non-invasive Blood Pressure Measurement

SAMICF has installed the IITC MRBP tail cuff blood pressure measurement system to allow reaserchers to non-invasively monitor the blood pressure of up to 6 rats or mice simultaneously.

The MRBP system  consists of up to 6 climate controlled restraint chambers to house animals fitted with a combined inflation-detection cuff at a user slected ambient temperature (typically 32oC or lower).  Blood pressure pulses are detected by a high sensitivity photoelectric sensor. Blood pressure readings are monitored, recorded and stored automatically and can be exported into an Excel spreadsheet.

Reservations for the IITC MRBP tail cuff blood pressure measurement system can be made through the Equipment Reservation page. Requests for training should be direcetd to Dr Mike Jackson.
