Dr. Douglas A. Brownridge- Biography

Douglas Brownridge, Ph.D., is a Professor of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, as well as Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong.  Dr. Brownridge’s research and teaching focus on the epidemiology of family violence.  His publications include numerous refereed journal articles, book chapters, and 3 books.  He has conducted research on various aspects of different forms of family violence, including child abuse, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse.  Among his accomplishments, his most recent book has developed a new subfield on violence in vulnerable populations with ensuing substantive, theoretical and methodological advancements.  Dr. Brownridge has received several recognitions for excellence in research, teaching and service, including the Rh Award for Outstanding Contributions to Scholarship and Research in the Social Sciences.
