Research summary
Dr. Malcolm Doupe's research interests include health service research, care transitions, and older adults. He specializes in registry data systems and implementation research. Dr. Doupe is currently leading or co-leading several projects, including evaluating subacute care hospital transitions for older adults, comparing older adult care continuums in Alberta and Manitoba, and developing interventions to improve older adult care transitions between nursing homes and emergency wards. He has received several national and international grants to enhance care transitions for older adults. Dr. Doupe also directs the Manitoba Training Program in Health Services Research.

Biography
Dr. Malcolm Doupe is a professor in community health science at the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He is a health services researcher with a focus on the aging population and health services utilization. Dr. Doupe holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Science from the Faculty of Kinesiology, also at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Doupe's research interests include care transitions, health service research, and older adults. He is particularly interested in the risk factors and patterns of Continuing Care services use, healthcare transitions, and issues related to care continuity for older adults. He is currently leading or co-leading several projects related to these topics, including the evaluation of subacute care hospital transitions for older adults, the evaluation of older adult care continuums in Alberta and Manitoba, and the development of interventions to improve older adult care transitions between nursing homes and emergency wards.
In addition to his work at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Doupe is a senior research scientist with the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy and has cross-appointments in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He is also affiliated with the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and is a member of the Translating Research in Elder Care and iNET research groups.
Dr. Doupe has received several awards for his contributions to scholarship and research in the health sciences, including the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research National Article of the Year and the Rh Institute Award for Outstanding Contributions to Scholarship and Research. He is also the Director of the Manitoba Training Program in Health Services Research and is accepting PhD students.
