Wanda Phillips-Beck, RN. BN. MSc.
Ms Phillips-Beck is an Anishinaabe women from the Hollow Water First Nation located on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. Wanda’s background is in northern nursing and has worked both at the community level in several First Nation communities in Manitoba, and regionally in nursing management positions. From 2006 to 2013 Wanda worked as the Nurse Program Advisor to the Strengthening Families Maternal Child Health Program with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.  Presently, Wanda works as the Nurse Research Manager for the Community Based Primary Health Care Innovation Team within the Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba.  Wanda is a research member of several research teams whose focus is on Maternal Child Health. Wanda obtained her Nursing Degree in 1991 at the University of Manitoba and her Master’s degree in Community Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine 2010. Community development and participatory action principles underpin her approach to project management, program development, research and evaluation.
