Departmental Research Seminar

Hello! Welcome to the BGEN 7000/8000 Seminar page. Here is week-by-week information for the academic year. Please check back frequently for updates.

Students must send their title, learning objectives, and abstract to the Administrative Assistant at least one week prior to their scheduled seminar date.

Student presenters and their lab colleagues are responsible for setting up and restoring 341 BMSB Klaus Wrogemann Seminar Room each week. To facilitate this, the seminar room has been booked from 11:45 to 13:15.

Graduate students must enroll in the Departmental Seminar course in each Fall and Winter term until they complete their degree requirements. Graduate students must attend a minimum of 80% of the BGEN 7000/8000 seminars each term. Students who cannot attend the seminar must notify the Course Coordinator prior to the seminar to avoid academic penalty. Students whose unexcused absences exceed 20% and their advisor(s) will receive a single written warning via email and, if there is no improvement, will receive a "fail" in the course and will also be required to withdraw from the graduate program.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT  THE DEPARTMENTAL SEMINAR COURSE: Only students who have submitted their thesis for review are exempt from attending and/or presenting. All other students are required to attend and present.
