As a fundamental component of the growth, development and success of the College of Medicine, Faculty Development has a critical role to play. This includes the development of faculty members, instructional development, staff development and organizational development.
At all levels, approaches to faculty development activities that are contextual and culturally appropriate, principle-centered, which demonstrate integrity and honesty, and are responsive will be used.
Faculty development activities will have a major goal to build capacity within the College of Medicine to create a ‘learning organization’ focused on creative, collaborative, proactive approaches to enhancing the teaching and learning experiences of our learners.
Faculty development will have a significant leadership role to play in building on the body of evidence in areas of teaching and learning, i.e. scholarly activities related to knowledge creation, integration and application in theories and practice related to the discipline(s) of teaching and learning, and in the discipline of faculty development.
