Career development

How we can help you

The OEFD offers support for career development and communication skills for faculty and health professionals.

Career development

Whether you are a new faculty member or are a well-established academic, the OEFD team can support your ongoing career development. Our workshops and consultation services provide practical skills, evidence-based knowledge, and collegial opportunities to share best practices that work in the dynamic colleges of the RFHS. A review of your teaching practices and leadership opportunities may be helpful at multiple points in your career, and may also be used for promotion and tenure application processes. OEFD Career Development support includes the following topics:

  • Developing a RFHS teaching dossier
  • Writing for your professional life (your teaching philosophy)
  • Mentorship in health professions education settings
  • Negotiation tools and techniques for RFHS academics
  • Team conflict management in RFHS teaching contexts
  • Influencing change: tools and techniques
  • Peer review of teaching
  • Providing performance feedback
