Prior to commencing class this fall, you will be required to submit documentation which will reinforce and support your role within the Healthcare system.

Please note that the information provided below is effective May 14, 2020 and is subject to change. These requirements are intended for all students commencing with the Class of 2024 in August 2020.


Computer Requirements

The University of Manitoba, Max Rady College of Medicine has integrated the use of online examinations for all aspects of UGME Final and Midterm Examinations. It is expected that UGME students will have their own laptop computer to use during examinations. Please click to view the policy here.

Additionally, as a result of COVID-19, the University has approved a plan to deliver all possible courses for the Fall Term 2020 by remote learning. Click here for a message from Dr. Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice-President (Academic) on Fall Term 2020.

Please ensure your laptop has a camera and microphone, and that you have access to a high speed internet connection.


University of Manitoba Email Address

You must have a University of Manitoba email address (name@myumanitoba.ca) prior to commencing classes with the College of Medicine. A University of Manitoba email address is the only one authorized for formal communication from the College.

Please note, you should confirm an existing or claim a new email address no later than June 29, 2020 in order to ensure access to our Curriculum Management System.


 Immunization Program

Please visit the Immunization Program Website, and return the Immunization Package no later than July 22, 2020.

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM)
Registration Deadline is August 1, 2020

  • The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba is a separate entity from the university. Membership is integral to your role as a Medical Learner. As such, you are required to register with CPSM in order to participate in the MD Program. Re-registration is required each academic year.
     
  • Once you have accepted your position within the Class of 2024, you will receive an email from the Admissions office with the CPSM package attached. You must complete and send back to the CPSM office no later than their deadline. Failure to register with CPSM will result in you being restricted from participating in classes until registration is complete.

Please do not hesitate to contact the CPSM directly for more information or assistance with the forms.

Student Records and Forms
All forms must be completed no later than July 24, 2020

The UGME Program Office is prepared to receive all documents by email/scan, including your proof of CPR and your Criminal Record Checks.

Should you have any specific questions regarding documentation required for enrolment, please contact the Enrolment Administrator at enrollmentugme@umanitoba.ca.

CPR Training Certificate

  • All students must be CPR certified in a course designated as "Basic Life Support - BLS Provider" acceptable to the standards of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Please note that your certification card must include the Heart and Stroke symbol on it.
     
  • On the Bannatyne Campus, CPR courses have been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they will likely start up again in July 2020 in the Joe Doupe Recreation Centre. Once registration opens, the schedule may be found here.
     
  • You may find additional course providers through the Heart & Stroke Foundation website.
  • Students are encouraged to complete the CPR course this summer prior to classes, however we recognize that access to the course may be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you are experiencing difficulties completing the course prior to the start of class, please contact the Enrolment Administrator at enrollmentugme@umanitoba.ca.

Please note that all students are required to provide an updated CPR card each year by the first day of classes.

Criminal Record Search Certificate with Vulnerable Sector Search

  • The Max Rady College of Medicine requires that all applicants accepted to the College's medical education programs submit and be cleared as an offender on a formal Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search.
     
  • It is advisable to request two (2) copies, one for the CPSM and one for personal reference. Additional information on the policy requirements may be found here.
  • The Criminal Record Search Certificate with Vulnerable Sector search has been moved to an online application. Instructions on how to complete the search and provide a copy to the College will be communicated to all students by the Enrolment Administrator in the coming weeks. Please ensure you check your UM student email for updates.

Please note that all students are required to provide an updated Criminal Record Search Certificate each year by the first day of classes.

Child Abuse Registry Self-Check

  • The Max Rady College of Medicine requires that all applicants accepted to the College's medical education programs submit and be cleared as an offender on a formal Child Abuse Registry Check.
     
  • The Child Abuse Registry self-check has been moved to an online application. Instructions on how to complete the check and provide a copy to the College will be communicated to all students by the Enrolment Administrator in the coming weeks. Please ensure you check your UM student email for updates.
     
  • Failure to complete this document will result in you being potentially restricted from participating in classes until registration is complete.

Please note that all students are required to provide an updated Child Abuse Registry Check each year by the first day of classes.

Adult Abuse Registry Self-Check

  • The Max Rady College of Medicine requires that all applicants accepted to the College's medical education programs submit and be cleared as an offender on a formal Adult Abuse Registry Check.
     
  • The Adult Abuse Registry self-check has been moved to an online application. Instructions on how to complete the check and provide a copy to the College will be communicated to all students by the Enrolment Administrator in the coming weeks. Please ensure you check your UM student email for updates.
     
  • Failure to complete this document will result in you being potentially restricted from participating in classes until registration is complete.

Please note that all students are required to provide an updated Adult Abuse Registry Check each year by the first day of classes.
