NOTES:

1 Check and consult the University Calendar for former course numbers, other equivalents, and for prerequisites.

2 Free electives are the students’ choice. To graduate, the student must include: 15 credit hours of free electives. However, students may need to use a free elective as a prerequisite before completing a program elective.

3 Program electives must be taken from the approved electives list.

For further information, see the Academic Advisor.

For the Biomedical Concentration:

Only students registered in the B.H. Sc. degree program may complete a Biomedical Sciences Concentration.

A written statement must be submitted to the Undergraduate Program Advisor by May 15 declaring an interest in obtaining the concentration, following completion of HEAL 3610. Students will normally be informed whether they have been accepted into the concentration by mid-June. In order to be eligible for the concentration students require a minimum grade of B in HEAL 3610. Normally, enrolment will be limited to up to the 24 eligible students who have achieved the highest degree GPAs after completion of HEAL 3610.

It is recommended that students accepted into the Biomedical Sciences Concentration complete PHAC 4030 and PHAC 4040 as 6 credit hours of the Science electives.

Courses required for the Biomedical Sciences Concentration could count toward 18 of the 36 credit hours of approved elective course work to be completed in Years 3 and 4 of the B.H.Sc. degree.

Registration in HEAL 4630 and HEAL 4640 is restricted to students accepted into the Biomedical Sciences Concentration and requires permission of the Instructor. Registration in these courses must be confirmed by the Undergraduate Student Advisor.

HEAL 3610 will be offered as an elective course for all students in the B.H.Sc. degree.

To graduate, the student must include 36 credit hours of program electives from an approved list. This includes:

Minimum Science courses: 21 from 36 credit hours
Minimum Social Science: 12 from 36 credit hours
Minimum 3000 & 4000 level courses: 24 from 36 credit hours

It is advisable to thoroughly plan your four year program and speak to the Undergraduate Program Advisor for guidance in choosing courses.

Program electives should be planned strategically and upon entering the Interdisciplinary Health Program. Additional prerequisites may be required for higher level courses. The table below is for course planning.
