Kathy Yerex obtained her Bachelor of Science (Honors) in 2002 and her diploma in dental hygiene in 2004, both from the University of Manitoba. She is currently a Master of Science student in the Department of Oral Biology and is in her early stages of her Master’s research.
Kathy comes to the School of Dental Hygiene as Assistant Professor with a strong combination of didactic and clinical teaching, and health promotion experience with 9 years as a part-time faculty member and 2 years full-time experience as the Oral Health Promotion Specialist with Centre for Community Oral Health. Kathy has been the recipient of the Dean’s Teaching Award for Most Innovative Use of Teaching with Technology in the Classroom University of Manitoba, College of Dentistry, School of Dental Hygiene in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Kathy remains active in the dental hygiene profession as a member of the Manitoba Dental Hygienists’ Association/School of Dental Hygiene Mentorship Program Committee, has served as President of the Manitoba Dental Hygienists’ Association, served on council with the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba and continues to serve on various local boards and committees to give oral health and dental hygiene a voice.
