Interprofessional Education (IPE)

School of Dental Hygiene IPE List of Working GroupsThe School of Dental Hygiene has embraced interprofessional education (IPE) within the diploma and baccalaureate programs. The College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba, the National Entry to Practice Competencies and Practice Standards, the Code of Ethics, and the International Dental Hygiene Federation all firmly promote IPE as being integral not only to the preparation of the dental hygienists entering the profession, but to the dental hygienist maintaining their competency throughout their career. I PE at the University of Manitoba (UM) is formally being advanced through the UM IPE Initiative.

Dental hygiene faculty and students champion this collaboration between the 13 health and social programs at the UM. Laura MacDonald serves as the School of Dental Hygiene liaison to the UM IPE Initiative Liaison Advisory Committee, the committee responsible for connecting all the IPE activities at the UM. Currently, six working groups report to the Liaison Committee.
