Home Dental Care Program

Established in 1985, this outreach program provides dental care for individuals who are unable or have difficulty traditional dental clinic. Utilizing three dental mobile vans, dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants visit long term care homes, the residences of homebound individuals and hospitals.

We offer the best possible care and a wide range of dental services, customized to each individual patient's needs.

Services include dental exams, dental hygiene care, restorations, extractions, denture fabrication and more.

All appointments must be scheduled in advance.

Health Promotion Unit (HPU):
The HPU provides a variety of promotional services throughout the year to famalies and staff members in long terk care facilities, including:

  • caregiver training programs for families and long term care staff;
  • oral health presentations in the community focused on the specific needs of long term care residents;
  • oral health screenings for long term care residents.

Student Education:
The College of Dentisty provides all fourth-year dental students and third-year dental hygiene students an opportunity to practice in long term care. Students are supervised by dentists and dental hygienists and treatment is checked on a step-by-step basis to ensure quality dental care and patient safety. Appointment times may vary but most appointments completed by students are approximately 1.5 hours.
