Research Focus:
I am currently beginning my master’s practicum which will question North America’s current residential design practices. This will be accomplished through the design of a multi-unit residence for middle class non-traditional households. The design will incorporate the adaptive reuse of a building in the city core. The result will act as an alternative to suburbia, which does not support a sense of community, day-to-day activities and negatively impacts the environment, with respect to the lavish use of land, energy, and natural resources. The interior space planning will support a sense of community and the materials used will be sustainable and promote healthy Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

Interior Design has an important contribution to make in changing the way modern residential design is undertaken.  Such a view must move beyond suburbia, city apartment blocks and condominiums and as such, seek to minimize resource use, instill a sense of community, foster ecological stewardship, and promote healthy living environments.

Prior to starting my Master’s degree I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual) from Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and a Diploma in Heritage Resources from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

My long term goal is to work with a group of people that share my passion for design which promotes life and health.
