Oakes-Riewe Environmental Studies Research Award

Professors Jill Oakes (Environment and Geography) and Rick Riewe (Zoology) established a fund to support graduate students conducting environmental research which includes Aboriginal peoples’ perspectives.

Award Value: minimum $500 - maximum $5,000

Deadline Date: November 3, 2017

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba, either in a Master’s or a Ph.D. program and be affiliated with any faculty.
  2. Applicants must be conducting or proposing to conduct interdisciplinary environmental research (integration of physical, biological, and human processes) within an Aboriginal context.

Applicants for this scholarship must complete an Oakes-Riewe Environmental Studies Research Award application form and supply all required supporting documentation as applicable (please see the application form for details). Applications can also be obtained from the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources in the Faculty General Office, 440 Wallace Building.
