Jody Deming

Adjunct

University of Washington

Walters Endowed Professor in Oceanography

Ph.D. University of Maryland: Microbiology
B.A. Smith College: Biological Sciences

Research Interests

Dr. Deming studies microbial extremophiles, most recently those that inhabit ice formations. She is interested in their impacts on biogeochemical cycles in sea ice, water, and sediment; the evolutionary basis for their adaptive strategies; and how they may be harnessed for bioremediation and biotechnology.
