I study the biogeochemistry of metals and contaminants in aquatic systems. I am especially interested in identifying sources of mercury to environmental systems and the conditions that influence mercury's chemistry, including its tendency to form its bioaccumulating monomethylmercury chemical form. During my Ph.D., I measured mercury methylation potential in the marine water column in regions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
