You want to register for your courses but you're not sure what to do! Follow these procedural steps to ensure that you are able to register without difficulty.
STEP 1: Online registration tutorials
If you are registering for the first time at the University of Manitoba, the Aurora Student registration system may seem overwhelming. The online registration tutorial videos will guide you through the process of logging in to the system for the first time, navigating the various screens in Aurora Student, and understanding the registration process. Watching these videos in their entirety is highly recommended.
STEP 2: Program requirements
Your Departmental student advisor can provide you with a list of course requirements as well as elective options. Information is available in both list and flowchart formats from most Departments. You can also access this information online. It is helpful to be aware of prerequisite requirements for your courses prior to registration. Take time to review the list of course requirements as well as the University of Manitoba course catalogue to understand any prerequisite requirements.
STEP 3: Registration access time
Students are given a specific access time on or after which they can register. You can find our your access time by logging into Aurora Student, and clicking "Enrolment & Academic Records" > "Registration" > "Registration Time and Status". STEP 4: Plan your timetable
Using the timetable planning sheet and the class schedule from Aurora Student, you can map out course selections prior to registration. In July/August, you will be registering for both Fall and Winter terms; in March, you will be registering for the Summer term should you choose to take courses during this time. By working out a schedule with alternate options beforehand, you can save much time and frustration during the actual registration process.
STEP 5: Register
When it comes time for you to register, have your program requirement information, timetable planning sheet, and student advisor contact information available. Should you run into registration problems such as full section or registration errors, contact your student advisor for assistance. STEP 6: Pay your fees
Once you have registered for your classes, you will be assessed tuition and other fees associated with registering in courses. To get a list of what fees you have been charged and find out when those fees are due to be paid, remain in Aurora Student and click on "Enrolment & Academic Records" > "Registration" > "View Account Summary by Term". If you have concerns about fees, contact your student advisor or the Registrar's Office.
STEP 7: Access your booklists
Close to the start of the classes each term, your professors will upload textbook requirements for the courses in which you are registered. You can access this information through your Aurora Student account by clicking "Enrolment & Academic Records" > "Student Records" > "View Booklist". You can visit the U of M Bookstore's textbook section to purchase the required textbooks.
