*****************************************************************************************************************************************************
For all scholarships: to be eligible, you do not need to have completed registration for the upcoming terms at the time the awards are adjudicated (usually in Summer). You should meet the award criteria (e.g. be registered full time in both those terms) by the end of the registration revision period in the upcoming Fall term, however. (If you don't, you may not receive an award for which you've been selected.)
For scholarships with an application: a small number of scholarships are awarded based on academic performance and some other criteria (e.g. community involvement, leadership, extra-curricular activities). These awards require you to write an essay, answer questions about your volunteer experiences, or some other written input. If you want to be considered for an award with an application, you MUST complete the applicable form and upload it to the system (My Files), as well as clicking on Apply for this award. Adding an award to My Bookmarks shortlists awards, but does not result in an application being registered.

ENGAP students may find additional awards at: http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/engineering/access/scholarships.htm
FAQ
It is strongly recommended that you read this section below before entering the awards site.
Logging in:
You can view the awards without logging in, but you won’t be able to apply for them until you log in. To benefit from the full functionality of the site, (e.g. to determine which you are eligible for, to submit applications), login with your UMNetID (the one you use for your CC mail account, e.g. umsurname5). The first time you use the system, choose 'Create Account', complete your Profile, enter your UMNetID and the system will email a password to you. If you forget your password, choose 'reset your password' on the main page, enter your UMNetID and you'll be emailed a new password.
What do I enter for GPA, year and course load when creating a profile?
For most awards, the degree GPA or the sessional GPA will be required. NB: The cumulative GPA on your unofficial transcript may not be the same as your degree GPA. The year to use is the one you were in during the previous academic session (e.g. 201090-201110 for scholarships given out in 2011) For example, if you were Program 03-00 or in U1 in 201110, but will be in Civil in 201190, the year to enter is 1. Your course load is the number of credit hours that apply to your Engineering degree for that session divided by 30 and entered as a decimal value. e.g. If you were registered in and completed 15 credit hours, you were a part time student (15/30 = .5). The profile is for your convenience in determining which awards to view.
NB: When viewing an award, to confirm eligibility, click on the link to the student records system. The awards application will use data in the student records system rather than your profile to confirm eligibility. If you believe that your records are incorrect, please consult with your departmental advisor. The selection committee will rely on data taken directly from the student records system.
GPAs
For complete explanations of what each GPA means, please refer to the Registrar's Office web site <http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/grades/687.htm>. Briefly: Sessional GPA refers to the GPA based on courses taken during a Fall and immediately following Winter term; Degree GPA is the GPA based on all courses you've taken that count towards your Engineering degree. In older award terms, cumulative GPA is equivalent to today's degree GPA. Currently, cumulative GPA means all courses taken at a university level, whether they apply to your Engineering degree or not.
To determine which year you are in, use the table of earned degree credit hour ranges below.
| Program | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| 03-BE, 03-C, 03-E, 03-TE, 03-M |
0-29.9 | 30-70.9 | 71-111.9 | 112-n | - |
| 03-BC, 03-CC, 03-MC |
0-29.9 | 30-70.9 | 71-91.9 | 92-111.9 | 112-n |
NB: These values may change for 2012. Watch this space for updates.
I should be in a different program-what's up?
Some changes may not have been made yet to your electronic record. For example, if you were an undeclared student from Engineering or from U1 or in high school last year, or if you changed your program (e.g. to coop), Admissions or the departmental advisor may not have had time to enter the changes, yet. Please confer with your advisor if you think an incorrect program has been attached to your record or if it appears you have not been admitted.
What is my current faculty/program?
Your current faculty is the one you will be in the Fall term that is upcoming or underway. Your previous faculty/program is the one you were in during the year your academic performance is being considered (i.e. the previous Fall and Winter terms). Example: 201110 has finished, but 201190 has not yet started or has just started. Your current program is the one you are in for 201190, and your previous program is the one you were in for 201110 and 201090. If you were in high school the previous session (year), look under Direct Entry awards.
What do I need to do to apply for awards with an application (those that have YES under the column heading 'App Req'?
You must upload a completed pdf. A pdf is available for each award that requires an application. Download, complete and upload to your profile. Note: the Engineering Extra-curricular Questionnaire is attached to more than one award, but needs to be completed just once. The character maximum given for responses includes spaces. For many awards, this will be 3700 characters, but for others it will be 1850 characters, including spaces.
You must also click on the Apply for Award link to register your intent to be considered. Please note that hard copy versions of the form will not be accepted, nor will those sent by email. If you have a disability that precludes your following these instruction, contact Myrna Donald at least one business day prior to the application deadline.
NB: For awards without an application, you will be considered if you meet the eligibility criteria; you do not need to apply.
What do I enter in the student number field?
Your nine digit student number is comprised of the digits you use everyday plus leading zeroes to total nine digits. So, if your student number is 12345, you would add 4 leading 0s to make it 000012345. If your student number is 1234567 (most of you will have 7 digit numbers), add 2 leading zeros: 001234567.
The Awards system is at http://ugawards.eng.umanitoba.ca/ .
Where can I get help?
If you have questions, please send email to mailto:engg_ug_awards@umanitoba.ca?subject=help%20with%20awards%20requested. You must use your UMNetID email account (e.g. umstudentname@cc.umanitoba.ca, NB: your student number and yahoo or other non-U of M accounts won't work).
What to do if you receive an award: it is professional to send a note of thanks to the donor. Financial Aid & Awards can provide contact information, as required.
