Program Components

The IEEQ Program is a program in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Manitoba that accelerates the process by which internationally-educated engineers fulfill the academic qualification requirements of APEGM as part of the process toward registration as a P.Eng. in Manitoba.

Academic Coursework: Internationally-educated engineers enrolled in the IEEQ Program take senior-level technical and design courses in the Faculty of Engineering (September through April).  Courses include Engineering Economics, Practicing Professional Engineering in Manitoba, and technical and design courses chosen in the area of the Confirmatory Exams assigned by APEGM

Paid Co-op Work Experience: Internationally-educated engineers enrolled in the IEEQ Program are placed in paid employment with an employer in their engineering discipline (generally May through August).

Cultural Integration Support:  Internationally-educated engineers enrolled in the IEEQ Program also take part in an intensive year-long orientation to the business practices, professional culture, and professional ethics of engineering Canada, language tutoring, and networking opportunities with practicing engineers. 

Most internationally-educated engineers enrolled in the IEEQ Program will be able to complete the IEEQ Program in 12 months.  However, a 24-month option is also available.
