DISCLAIMER
Tentative Approval for admissions by an academic advisor within ECE or the submission of an application and payment of processing fees is not a guarantee admissions to the Graduate Program. All applications are reviewed by the Department and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.  Final approval rests with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

All students are responsible for the content of their Admissions Application and in making sure that the instructions and procedures are followed for the proper submission of an Admissions Application which includes obtaining Tentative Acceptance from a professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer in advance of the submission of an official admissions application.

ADMISSION DEADLINES

Ultimately, admissions dates are dependent on the ECE Faculty Member (professor) offering tentative acceptance.  Please discuss admissions periods with the ECE Faculty Member offering tentative tcceptance.

  • Canadian/U.S. Students OR Students who have graduated ONLY from Canadian Universities
    • should submit applications and supporting documents to the Faculty of Graduate Studies at least 4-months prior to the intended start date
  • International Students OR Students who have graduated for International Universities
    • should submit applications and supporting documents to the Faculty of Graduate Studies at least 8-months prior to the intended start date

  • DEADLINES:
The admissions deadlines below are deadline dates as to when the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering must receive an online admissions application along with a "TENTATIVE ACCEPTANCE" (from a Faculty Member in the Department of ECE) in order to process an admissions application. Ultimately, however, admissions intake periods are determined by the Faculty Member in the Department of ECE who accepts you into his/her research group.
    • LATER ADMISSIONS TIMES:  There are many factors that determine an intake or admissions period some of which may be space availability, project timing, research timing, the ability to process your application in time for an intake period, etc. -- due to these factors students may asked to accept a later admissions date.
    • NO TENTATIVE ACCEPTANCE RECEIVED:  We cannot process your application until tentative acceptance is offered by a professor in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In these cases, the applicant has NOT met the deadline date. Unfortunately, in these circumstance, we cannot process applications with tentative acceptance from a Faculty Member in the Dept. of ECE.
    • QUALIFYING ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCORES:   We CANNOT process Admissions Applications which are not accompanied with qualifying English language scores. Students who obtained a post-secondary degree in a COUNTRY whose primary language IS NOT English must submit Qualifying English Language Scores.
    • ADMISSIONS DEADLINES:  Due to many factors including visa processing, late graduation from a previous program, etc. meeting an admissions deadline does not guarantee admissions during a specific intake period.  In cases where the student misses an intake period due to the late application of a visa (et.al.), the failure to obtain proper immigration documents, late submissions of final papers (final, official documents), etc., deferral of admissions is required for whatever reason (all deferral must be approved by the professor offering tentative acceptance, the Dept., and the Faculty), etc.. -- neither the Professor (Academic Advisor), the Department, nor the University are required to accept the student and he/she may need to find another Academic Advisor and re-apply for admissions.
    • RECOMMENDED APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINES
ALL applications MUST be accompanied with a tentative acceptance from a professor in the Department of ECE and if applicable, Qualifying English Language Exam scores.  The professor must contact the student advisor to ask that an application is processed, not the applicant.  .

DISCLAIMER:
