ELIGIBILITY

This scholarship is offered to International Students who:

    1. are international students (i.e. those in Canada on study permits) continuing full-time study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba in
      • the second year of a two-year Master's program
      • the second year of a two-year Ph.D. program
      • the second or third year of a three-year Ph.D. program
      • the first year of a Ph.D. program after completing a Master's degree at the University of Manitoba
         
    2. are currently a UoM student in a Master's program and who have applied to a Ph.D. program here at the UofM -- in this case you are not allowed to get the IGSES Award and MUST apply for the IGSS
       
    3. are paying the international student tuition fee
       
    4. have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 over the equivalent of the last two completed years of study
       
    5. show great promise as researchers and as graduate students
       
    6. are not recipients of external funding that pays for their tuition

       

      NOTE: This scholarship may be held with the UMGF and other awards offered by the University of Manitoba.

      NOTE: The IGSS may not be held in conjunction with the International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship (IGSES) or the International Graduate Student Bursary.

      NOTE: Students may be considered for this scholarship in each year of eligible study.

      NOTE: Students who are enrolled in a re-registration year are not eligible.

      NOTE:  Scholarships will only be applied against any outstanding international student tuition fee differential.

      NOTE:  Scholarships will be offered until available funds are exhausted. Funding will be confirmed on an annual basis.

       

       

      INSTRUCTIONS  

        1. Complete the application form

        2. Attach transcripts from ALL post-secondary institutions you've attended (This means you'll need to submit a STUDENT HISTORY & PAST TRANSCRIPS)
           
          • Only student histories from the Registrar's Office and "Certified True" copies of your PAST TRANSCRIPTS are acceptable

            • STUDENT HISTORIES (FREE of Charge)
               
              • Request a UofM Student History from the Registrar's Office --

              • Ask the Registrar's Office to send your UofM Student History directly to
                Ms. Tracy Sobotkiewicz
                Faculty of Graduate Studies

            • PAST TRANSCRIPTS (CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES):  Past Transcripts are copies of your transcripts from other colleges and universities 
              Your past transcripts are on file in the ECE Main Office.
               
              • Please email the Graduate Student Advisor to request a copy (FREE)
              • we will make copies for you
              • stamp them "CERTIFIED TRUE COPY" & sign them
              • put them in a sealed envelope
              • email you when their ready for pick up
