Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering related projects should allow the students to use at least some of the skills and expertise that they have gained throughout their education, namely, but not limited to: heat transfer, thermodynamics, strength of materials, structural analysis, controls and dynamics. aerospace and automotive engineering. Examples of some of the successful mechanical and manufacturing engineering projects in the past are:
Sheet metal stacking system that reduces worker fatigue and injury
Designed heat recovery system to minimize powder coating plant's heating costs
Redesigned furniture packing to minimize costs and shipping losses
Assessment of retrofits to improve a continuous flow heat treatment process
Design of a hand operated bicycle for lower limb amputees
Adaptation of a truck bed canopy lift system
