Ms. Carolyn Geddert began her engineering career in 1988 with E.H. Price Ltd. The Winnipeg based architectural products manufacturer was experiencing unprecedented growth during this time and added to its two manufacturing facilities in Canada and one in Singapore by opening another manufacturing facility in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms Geddert left the company in 1994 with experience primarily in the fabrication and assembly of light sheet metal products.
In 1994 Ms. Geddert entered the automotive industry by taking the position of process engineer at Phillips and Temro Industries. The position allowed Ms Geddert to participate in the fabrication of cold weather starting products for the automotive and heavy duty truck industries. There were also opportunities to work in the industrial silencer plant where heavier gage metals were rolled and welded. During Ms. Geddert’s time at Phillips and Temro the organization built a new facility and relocated all operations to this new site. Ms Geddert provided the plant layout for a significant portion of the facility. As she matured in her role as process engineer the requirements for Quality and Environmental Management Systems became increasingly her responsibility. By 2002 She was responsible for the quality system implementation and internal audit for automotive part manufacturing facilities in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as, the environmental management system internal audit for the two automotive facilities and two industrial silencer plants.
In 2004 Ms. Geddert was appointed as Engineer-in-Residence, with the Faculty of Engineering, Design Engineering Group. Ms. Geddert’s appointment will strengthen the Engineering Faculty’s continuing commitment to provide practicing engineering experiences to both the students and staff.
