Dr. Choo-Smith is a Research Officer at the Spectroscopy Group of the Institute for Biodiagnostics, National Research Council Canada. Her main research interests are biomedical applications of Raman spectroscopy. Recent research and development activities include the application of Raman spectroscopy and optical coherence tomography for early dental caries detection and monitoring. This research is a collaboration involving members of the Faculty of Dentistry including Dr. Cecilia Dong (Dept. Restorative Dentistry) and Dr. William Wiltshire (Division of Orthodontics) as well as Dr. Blaine Cleghorn (Dalhousie U.). Dr. Choo-Smith is an adjunct at the Dept. Restorative Dentistry and Dept. Oral Biology.
