School of Dental Hygiene IPE List of Working Groups
The School of Dental Hygiene has embraced interprofessional education
(IPE) within the diploma and baccalaureate programs. The College of
Dental Hygienists of Manitoba, the National Entry to Practice
Competencies and Practice Standards, the Code of Ethics,
and the International Dental Hygiene Federation all firmly promote IPE
as being integral not only to the preparation of the dental hygienists
entering the profession, but to the dental hygienist maintaining their
competency throughout their career. I PE at the University of Manitoba (UM) is formally being advanced through the
UM IPE Initiative.
Dental hygiene faculty and students champion this collaboration between the 13 health and
social programs at the UM.
Laura MacDonald serves as the School of Dental Hygiene liaison to the
UM IPE Initiative Liaison Advisory Committee, the committee
responsible for connecting all the IPE activities at the UM.
Currently, six working groups report to the
Liaison Committee.

Dental hygiene students actively participate and champion
the Winnipeg Inner-city Student-run Health Clinic - WISH Clinic.
