How to email scanned images

Students are responsible for ensuring that their assignments are legible and easily accessible to Distance and Online Education and its instructors. If students wish to include scanned images with their assignment submission, for example, handwritten Math equations, those images should be inserted into a Word document and the Word document submitted.

Following are the steps to insert an image into a Word document:

  • Click on Insert > Picture > From File.
  • Select the file to be attached.
  • Click on Insert.

It is recommended that scanned images be saved in .jpg or .gif format to reduce file size.

Save and attach the Word document to your course email submission.

  • To resize or format the picture, right click on the image and select Format Picture. MS Word image
  • Click on the Size tab. MS Word image
  • Enter a percent to resize the picture. Note: To prevent distortion of the image, select the Lock aspect ratio and Relative to original picture size checkboxes.
