Attention all students planning to undertake a Major, Double Major, Advanced Major, Honours, or Double Honours degree in Women's and Gender Studies.
OUR DEGREE REQUIREMENTS HAVE CHANGED!
All students registered for the above degrees must take:
WOMN 2000 Feminist Thought
(which replaces WOMN 2520 Introduction to Feminist Theory).
This course is offered every year.
WOMN 3000 Interdisciplinary Research in Women's and Gender Studies
(which replaces WOMN 3580 Feminist Approaches to Research).
This course is offered every second year. It is next offered in Fall 2017, so if you plan to graduate in the next two years, you need to take it in 2017.
***In the years that we do not offer WOMN 3000, students can complete the requirements for their WGS degree by taking WGS 3200 Feminist Research Methodologies Seminar course at the University of Winnipeg. Any student who will need to take WGS 3200 at the Uof Winnipeg, is asked to please contact Kyla Shead, Office Assistant, at Kyla.Shead@umanitoba.ca first, for registration instructions.
Note: If you have already completed WOMN 2520 and WOMN 3580, or have taken these courses through the University of Winnipeg, you DO NOT need to take WOMN 2000 and WOMN 3000 also.
Honours and Double Honours students must also take:
WOMN 4200 Seminar in Women's and Gender Studies
(which replaces WOMN 4110 Advanced Feminist Theory).
Non-Honours students can request permission to take this course. This course is next offered in the 2017-2018 academic year.
WOMN 4100 Honours Thesis (look at the profiles of Faculty members on our web site to see who supervises theses on a topic in which you are interested).
If you have any questions about registering or about planning when to take courses, please feel free to contact Kyla Shead or Janice Dodd in the Women's and Gender Studies office.
