CUCS and Ukrainian Studies in German and Slavic Studies worked diligently to secure a Post Doctorate Fellow for 2011-2012 with the appointment of Dr. Svitlana Kukharenko, a recent Ph.D. graduate from the University of Alberta. She commenced her position as of Sept. 1, 2011. |
| June 2011 Conferences in Ukraine |
CUCS was represented at a conference in Ukraine with the participation of Dr. Roman Yereniuk at the Yuriy Fedkovych National University in Chernivtsi – Canadian Studies Conference. In addition he was a member of the Presidium, chaired a session and presented a paper. Conferences such as this one provide a major contact with academic units in Ukraine that are working in the area of Ukrainian Canadian Studies. Also Dr. Yereniuk facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Manitoba and Yuriy Fedkovych National University in Chernivtsi. |
