Thesis Topic

My thesis was on transmission of culture/religion among the Low German Mennonite population of Southern Manitoba.

Current Position

Program Coordinator for the Low German Mennonite Services Program at Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Manitoba, working in a satellite office in Winkler, MB. I have been in this position for 12 ½ years. Throughout those years I have helped newcomer Low German Mennonites arriving from Latin America with Immigration and Citizenship issues, provided information and referrals on other available services and programs, organized events to provide opportunities for connections, and events for service providers providing education about this population to build bridges of understanding.

Relevance of Degree

The education I received prepared me for my current position and has enabled me to articulate the immigrant integration experience to not only the “host” community but also to the newcomers arriving. I was able to give words to and an understanding of what they, as newcomers, were experiencing.
