Student Exchange Program to St. Petersburg State University

Place:  One of the very best universities in Russia located in the historical center of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Length of stay in Russia:  One or two semesters

St. PetersburgSubjects:  If you know Russian, you may enroll in any course offered at any of the faculties in St. Petersburg University
If your knowledge of Russian is limited or you don’t know the language at all, you may take courses at the Special Faculty of Philology (Russian language, literature, and culture). Courses that are offered in other departments in English are also open to UM students (e.g. Economics).

Eligibility:  You must be a full-time student at UM.

Costs:     
Round-trip fare (approx. $1200-1400).
Russian visa (contact the Russian Consulate General in Ottawa)
UM tuition (will depend on the number of credit hours you take in Russia)
Dormitory per semester (approx. $1100, based on double occupancy).
UM students can take care of their own meals or purchase the U St. Petersburg meal plan. 1st option: approx. $500-600 per semester.

Financial assistance:
UM students that take part in the exchange are eligible for a grant (the success rate in 2006 was 90% and the amount of each grant was approx. $1500). UM students may also work as TAs of English in St. Petersburg.
