TERMS OF REFERENCE
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH COMMITTEE

This committee will meet the requirements set by Manitoba Labour and Immigration – Workplace Safety and Health Division. These terms of reference will set specific terms of reference for the Faculty of Architecture Workplace Safety and Health Committee.

  1. The committee will be composed of five members:
  1. Two faculty members from the Faculty of Architecture Facilities Committee
  2. Two administrative staff, one each from the Russell Building and the Architecture 2 Building
  3. Students representing the undergraduate and graduate programs will be asked to participate in the committee as guests
  4. The Dean’s confidential secretary will be present at meetings to take minutes. The confidential secretary will also circulate the agenda and minutes to the committee and Manitoba Labour and Immigration. – Workplace Safety and Health Division, as required
  1. The committee will meet at least two times per year, with one meeting in the fall and once during the winter.
  2. At other times meetings can be called according to the rules of the Manitoba Labour and Immigration – Workplace Safety and health Division.
  3. One building will be inspected in the fall term and another in the winter term so that each building is inspected during the year. Other inspections can occur at any time as determined by the committee. Volunteers will be recruited for each inspection to include at least one faculty member and one administrative member. If possible, a representative from the Environmental Health and Safety Office will also participate in the inspection tour.
  4. Inspections will examine the policies and procedures of the workshop and other laboratory facilities and centres.
  5. Inspection reports will be compiled by the volunteers and circulated to the entire committee within one week of the inspection occurring.
  6. The Dean’s Office will prepare a follow-up to the inspection report. The Dean’s report will be completed within 30 days of the inspection report being circulated. The Dean’s report document will present information on how each item is being addressed.
