Position: Professor Department of City Planning / Environmental Design (Former Dean, Faculty of Architecture 2001-2009)

Dr. Witty has accepted the position of V-P Academic and Provost, Vancouver Island University, in Nanaimo.

Dr. Witty received his first two degrees from the University of Waterloo, a B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. School of Urban and Regional Planning; and attended the Public Administration Program at the University of Manitoba in 1972. He earned his Ph.D. in 1998 from The School of Community and Regional Planning, University of British Columbia.
During the course of his career, Dr. Witty has held senior administrative positions such as Chief Planner Parks Canada; Principal with Hilderman Witty; Acting Director Continuing Professional Programs - UBC; and since 1995 as Principal and Director of Urban Systems Ltd. in British Columbia. Dr. Witty has held positions as a Lecturer at both the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba; Assistant Professor (p.t.) Department of Landscape Architecture, UM from 1979-88 and is a Lecturer in Urban Design, City Program Simon Fraser University.
