Co-operative Education Program
Cooperative education is a process of learning which formally integrates the student's academic study with work experience in employer organizations. Work-related experience is found in industry, government and the farming profession. The work terms provide the students with practical experience, help to finance their education and provide guidance for further career specialization.
The Cooperative Education Option in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences' Bachelor of Science programs at the University of Manitoba takes 4 1/2 years to complete and incorporates three four-month work terms. At the time of their first placements, students will have completed six of the eight required four-month academic terms. They will have obtained many important academic skills and be eager to gain practical experience.
The Cooperative Education Option in the Diploma in Agriculture takes two years to complete and incorporates one work term. At the time of their first placement, these students will have completed half of the required academic terms. They also will have obtained many important skills and be eager to gain more experience.
