University of Manitoba - Faculty of Agricultural & Food Sciences - Faculty Endowment Fund
Faculty Endowment Fund

Spring 2019 Competition now open!

The goal of the Agriculture Endowment Fund is to promote excellence in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences through support for a wide variety of worthy projects and programs consistent with the academic goals of the Faculty. Although a wide variety of projects can be supported by the Fund, applications that benefit a greater number of students will be prioritized for funding by the Endowment Committee. Obtaining partial support from external sources enhances the chance of success.

This year approximately $240,000 is available for expenditure from the Fund.

In the past two years, the committee has allocated funds ranging from $80 - $15,000 per proposal, with a mean of $3,543.

The Endowment Fund Committee of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences is soliciting proposals for funding from students, alumni, academics and support staff of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.  Funding is available for a wide variety of worthy projects and programs consistent with the academic goals of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, including but not limited to:

  • teaching projects/equipment
  • student recruitment activities
  • visiting scientists and lecturers
  • special projects for support staff
  • specialized computer equipment where clear teaching benefit is demonstrated (funding of computer equipment for graduate students and research infrastructure should be shared by the grant-holder in the respective department)
  • student competitions
  • field trips - A field course fee should be charged where applicable, rather than seeking financial support from the Endowment Fund
  • library acquisitions
  • conferences or workshops
  • support for approved student exchange activities outside the University of Manitoba

*NEW* Requests for travel funds MUST include: Full justification of costs, full program details, and your plan to explain the benefit of the event to the wider student body, either by written or oral report, so other students can be inspired and learn about these opportunities.
