The lake breeze and attendant convective initiation of August 30, 2007

What happened

On August 30, 2007, a cold front was enhanced by a breeze off Lake Manitoba as it passed through the Red River Valley. The timing of the feature was such that convection began very close to the city of Winnipeg. Thunderstorms intensified as they went southward, but they never became severe.
