Meet our Faculty & Students
| Lealem Mulugeta |
|---|
Lealem Mulugeta graduated from Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 2005.
In February 2006 and again in February 2007 Mulugeta was one of eight people chosen to crew the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. The station is intended to replicate exactly how a real station on Mars would operate, and is run by the Mars Society to promote travel to Mars. Mulugeta’s primary job during his first mission was to act as the field engineer, fixing anything that broke down during the course of the mission. This year Mulugeta was chosen as mission commander.
Say hi to Lealem in the halls. He has returned to get his Masters Degree!
"For anyone aiming towards being an astronaut, it looks great on a resume" Mulugeta said of the Expedition Beta experience. |
| Dr. Vladimir Okhmatovski |
|---|
Dr. Okhmatovski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. A graduate of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute with 4 years of Postdoctoral research with the Center for Computational Electromagnetics at the University of Illinois and one year of industrial experience in modeling and design of RF/mixed signal on-chip systems at Neolinear Inc., Dr. Okhmatovski recently received $100,000 in CFI funding to establish a high-performance computational facility to design advanced automation technology. New methods developed at this lab will advance Canada’s global competitiveness in information and communications technology, healthcare, defence and the automotive sector. |
