Banner Enhancement Program FAQs
  • Who will be affected by the 1st phase of the Banner Enhancement Program?
    Banner 8 INB users will be affected by the 1st phase. If you use Aurora Banner 8 INB today to perform tasks such as update journal entries or students’ records, Aurora Banner 9 Administration Forms will modernize how information is displayed and how you navigate the system.
  • Why are we upgrading to Aurora Banner 9 Administration Forms (INB)?
    There are a number of technical and mandatory compliance factors that are prompting us to upgrade:
    • The end of support for Aurora Banner 8 INB as of December 2018
    • New regulatory updates will no longer be issued for Aurora Banner 8
    • Enhanced Data Security options with Banner 9
  • When are we upgrading to Aurora Banner 9 Administration Forms?
    Aurora INB will be upgraded to Banner 9 Administration pages from Wednesday, November 21 at 5 pm to Monday, November 26 at 9 am.
  • What changes should I expect to see in Aurora Banner 9 Administration Forms?
    Aurora Banner 9 Administration Forms delivers a number of important enhancements, including:
    • A new look and feel that modernizes the user experience
    • Greater flexibility to run Banner on any browser or mobile device
    • A simplified upgrade process
    • A solid foundation to deliver additional capabilities
    • Accessibility – compatible with screen readers and complies with the W3C WCAG 2.0 standards.
  • Will there be training on how to use the new system?
    Yes.
    • Aurora Student orientation sessions will be offered throughout October and November at both the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses.
      • General Navigation sessions will provide an overview of the new look of Banner 9. All Aurora Student INB users should plan to attend to become comfortable with finding information in student records.
      • Advanced, hands-on sessions will be available for users who update student records or schedule courses.
      • Aurora.Coach@umanitoba.ca will send an email notification with a registration link to each user, allowing them to select a session that suits their schedule.
    • Aurora Finance will provide hands-on navigation and process classes designed for users who enter financial information or query transactions in Aurora Finance. These classes will begin in November at both the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses.
      • Join our trainers in the classroom to see what’s new in Banner and learn how to navigate the upgraded system. Participants will get hands on practice creating common financial tasks such as journal entries and interdepartmental charges.
      • Sessions will be available on the Learning and Organizational Development Registration tool in the Aurora Finance category and will be announced through the Aurora Finance Client email list.
  • What is the preferred browser for using Banner 9 Administration Forms?
    Banner 9 can be used with all browsers.
  • Will Aurora Self-Serve (SSB) be affected?
    Users of Aurora Self-Serve will not be affected by this upgrade. Aurora Self-Serve will be upgraded at a later time.
