RedDot is the University of Manitoba's content management system. It is used by web content providers to publish new content and edit existing content on the University of Manitoba web site.
RedDot Training
Individual and group RedDot training sessions can be arranged by contacting Brian McLean (474-7236, Brian_McLean@umanitoba.ca). The Technology Training Team also provides ongoing training support for web editors using RedDot.
Working with the new U of M templates in RedDot
New templates have been implemented for the university web site. All RedDot Publishers (existing and new) using the new templates are required to attend a RedDot training session presented by the Technology Training Team. The scope of the training will be based on whether your site is an existing or new Reddot site. Incorporated into the training will be an overview of the standards and guidelines for using the new templates, writing for the web, accessibility and usability issues, and a detailed hands-on session working with the new templates. As well, users with new accounts will be given passwords at the training session.
Training is also available for units using the previous version of the U of M templates.
Transitioning to the new templates and RedDot Training
1. For information on how to transition your site's content and architecture into the new templates see the Web Services blog outlining the steps in this process.
2. Once your site is created in RedDot and you have received confirmation from the Web Services group that the initial setup is complete, contact the Technology Training Team (Brian_McLean@umanitoba.ca, 474-7236) to arrange an appointment for training. Most training sessions are done one-on-one or with small groups working on their faculty or unit's site and last for approximately one to two hours. RedDot training sessions are delivered by the Technology Training Team both at the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses and can usually be arranged within one week of the initial request.
