Application Technologies

Application Technologies researches, develops, acquires and supports the infrastructure required to support and integrate the University of Manitoba’s Business Systems and their associated application development environments. This includes operating system platforms and services, development tools and utilities, system management tools, general purpose corporate applications, the deployment of business applications developed or purchased and the setting of standards, guidelines and best practices for such development and deployment.

Areas of Responsibility

Application Development Support
  • Install, maintain and support application development tools and products used in the development and support of University Business Systems.
Corporate Applications
  • Install, support and deploy general purpose applications that support IST's desktop clients University-wide.
Infrastructure Applications
  • Develop, install and support application systems which provide infrastructure support and general purpose facilities used University-wide
Mainframe Systems
  • Core OS/390 Subsystem, security, software and architecture.
Systems Integration and Consulting
  • Perform upgrades and patch management as well as the University-wide deployment of products and services provided by University Business Systems.
  • Provide Windows Server consultation and vendor negotiation assistance to various University departments.
System Management
  • Perform systems management, infrastructure planning, software installation and support for servers and middleware facilities used in support of University Business Systems.
