University of Manitoba - Information Services and Technology - Antivirus Software Policy
Antivirus Software Policy

The University currently provides Kaspersky AntiVirus software for use on all University ownded Windows and Macintosh desktops, laptops and Windows servers. Under our agreement with Kaspersky, student and non-university owned equipment (i.e. personal laptops) are required to provide their own antivirus protection.

Once Kaspersky is installed, updates will be provided directly from University servers or, if you're off campus, updates will be automatically downloaded from the Kaspersky site.

Section 2.1.2 (h) of the Computer Usage Agreement Policy states that all systems under the control of a user must have current security updates and antivirus software installed.

In order to safeguard the campus network, IST may deny network access to any computer that is infected with a malicious program or sending out spam.

Information Services & Technology strongly encourages all students and staff to have their machinery protected.
