Eudora 6.2 Instructions for OSX (POP)


Basic Setup
When you create an account for the first time in Eudora, the program will bring you directly into the Preferences menu.

To modify settings that have already been configured in the software, click on Eudroa in the menu bar and then click on Preferences.

1. The program will ask Would you like to import settings and mail from another email application? In order to follow these instructions, select No.

2. Select Getting Started from the lefthand column.

In User Name enter your UMnetID and in Mail Server enter mail.cc.umanitoba.ca.

In Real Name enter your full name as you would like people to who you are sending email to see it, in SMTP Server enter mail.cc.umanitoba.ca and in Email Address enter your email address as you would like people who you are sending email to see it.

3. Select Checking Mail from the lefthand column.

Select POP from Mail Protocol, and select Convert to POP when presented with an alert like the one in the image below.

In User Name enter your UMnetID, in Mail Server enter mail.cc.umanitoba.ca and in Authentication select Passwords.

4. Select Sending Mail from the lefthand column.

In Email Address enter your email address and in SMTP Server enter mail.cc.umanitoba.ca.

5. Click OK.


Advanced Settings (Optional)
By default the POP protocol will download all email it finds on the server, and remove them. You can change this option if necessary.

1. Click on Eudroa in the menu bar and then click on Preferences.

2. Select Checking Mail from the lefthand column.

Fill in the checkbox beside Delete from server when emptied from trash.

3. Click OK.


Alternate Port (Outgoing only)
The email client may need to be configured to access the outgoing mail server using an alternate port. This needs to be done if your are using MTS as your ISP and need to send email using the UofM outgoing mail server.

1. Click on Eudroa in the menu bar and then click on Preferences.

2. Select Sending Mail from the lefthand column.

Fill in the two checkboxes beside Use submission port (587) and Allow authorization.

3. Select SSL from the lefthand column.

In SSL for SMTP select Required (TLS).

In Standard Port SSL Negotiation, ensure that TLS 1.0 is selected.

4. Click OK.


LDAP
Setup Eudroa to search the University of Manitoba directory for faculty, staff and student's contact information.

1. Click on Eudroa in the menu bar and then click on Preferences.

2. Select Hosts from the lefthand column.

3. In Ph/LDAP Server enter ldap://direct.cc.umanitoba.ca:389/o=University of Manitoba,c=CA in full as it is writen here.

4. Click OK.
