Email Account Tools

To read email from the University of Manitoba mail server, you need to configure your email client with the:

  • IMAP (or POP) server set to mail.cc.umanitoba.ca
  • SMTP server set to mail.cc.umanitoba.ca

All of the email management functions for the Computer & Network Services' (CNS), central computing (cc) Mail Account System are listed below.

NOTE:  Your browser must allow cookies for the following tools to work.

Tool Use
 (iridium)
- Manage your computer account passwords

 Used to:

  • Change or reset computer account passwords
  • Enable or disable your computer accounts
 (Bulkmail)
- Rejected mail & Whitelisting

Used to:
  • View your summary of rejected bulk email (created by Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC))
  • View a portion of each rejected message
  • Nominate wanted bulk email to the central whitelist
 (Easysieve)
- Management Functions

Don't use BASIC tools once you have used ADVANCE tools: they will erase your ADVANCED settings.

Used to:
  • Display your current available quota  
  • Set up automatic responses for incoming email
    eg. Vacation messages, Leaving permanently
  • Set up email forwarding

Used to set up additional advanced functions such as:
  • Display your current available quota  
  • Set up automatic responses for incoming email
    eg. Vacation messages
  • Set up email forwarding
  • Set up server-side mail filtering rules.
  • Change Access Control Lists (ACL) for your mailboxes  ie: Who can access your mail
 
- Email Aliases

Used to set up additional email forwarding addresses (eg: John_Smith@umanitoba.ca)
  • Add/Remove/Modify a personal email alias.
  • Request functional email aliases for faculties, departments, groups, clubs, etc. (subject to approval).
 (IMP)
- Login

Used to:
  • Read and send mail with your web browser, rather than using an email client program.
