Dr. Phillips' approach can be described as from the "heterodox" school of economics, oftern referred to as "political economy." It generally includes the more specific schools such as institutional, radical, post Keynesian, Sraffian, feminist, and green economics. For a more or less exhaustive (some 800+ large- format pages!) treatment of heterodox economics see the forthcoming _Encyclopaedia of Political Economy_ (Routledge:1998) in which he has three articles: "Participatory Democracy and Self- Mangement"; Social Ownership and Social Property"; and "Market Socialism" (co-authored with James Stodder).
The Heterodox approach to economics is well represented on two
discussion lists on the internet, PKT (Post Keynesian Theory)
and Pen-l (Progressive Economists Network). To subscribe or to
sample their wares, visit the web site of the Committee for Sustainable
Development in which both are archived along with a number of
other progressive and heterodox lists. Check them out at: http://CSF.Colorado.edu
