TWO SAINTS ARRIVE AT ST. PAUL'S COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
January 11, 2019– Winnipeg, Manitoba St. Paul the Apostle and St. Ignatius of Loyola now stand in reverence on either side of the front doors to Christ the King Chapel. Installed in December the newly added stained glass windows were designed by Lucinda Doran and brought to life by Matthew MacMillan of Prairie Studio Glass. Familiar to the College’s community, Rosemarie Finlay and Matthew Semchyshyn contributed their artisanship to the project’s completion.
The committee, with support from the Community Development Office, have succeeded in securing over $13,965.50 in pledges and are nearing the goal of raising $15,000. The next phase of the Chapel upgrades will address the outer exterior’s mosaic tiles estimated to be around $175,000 and, the third phase; will include updates to the Sacristy.
Fundraising is familiar to the Chapel community and since 2004, more than $225,000 in donations were secured to complete needed upgrades to the Chapel including the refurbishing of the pews, the addition of new skylights, repairing the roof, and providing a new sound system.
