Колеґія Св. Андрея являється частиною Манітобського Університету . Колеґія має гуртожиток для українських православних і інших студентів на кампусі університету. Гуртожиток і студентське життя належить до компетенції відповідальної за гуртожиток, добр. Ґені Божик.

Невеликий, дружній, тихий гуртожиток має великі і маленькі односпальні, а також двоспальні кімнати для 38 резидентів – чоловіків і жінок. Кімнати гуртожитку обставлені основними меблями, необхідними для комфортного студентського життя, а також є багато інших речей, доступних студентам, щоб вони могли почувати себе, як у вдома.
Студентська Рада і Товариство Студентів Богослов'я разом з адміністрацією Колеґії сприяють і спонсорують різні види спорту, громадську, освітню, релігійну і культурну діяльність (наприклад, український хор, інструментальна музика, доповідачі, традиційні культурні програми такі як писанкарство, екскурсії, тощо).
Надзвичайно успішною є Культурна Програма Колеґії. Вона включає українські танці, мішаний хор, чоловічий хор і оркестр. Щороку в лютому місяці студенти і члени адміністрації подорожують з концертами, відвідуючи різні українські громади.
У лютому місяці відбувається щорічний обмін студентів, у якому беруть участь Колеґія Св. Андрея, Інститут Св. Петра Могили в Саскатуні, Інститут Св. Івана в Едмонтоні та Інститут Св. Володимира в Торонто. Підчас триденної зустрічі коло учасників цієї події мають можливість обмінюватися думками, ділитися досвідом та знайомитися в академічній, культурній та громадській атмосфері.
Кожного літа Колеґія влаштовує українську літню програму "Міні Колеґія" для дітей віком від 6 до 12 років. Щороку на програму записується від 50 до 70 дітей, які мають двотижневі напрочуд цікаві й захоплюючі програми під керівництвом інструкторів.
Програма включає в себе вивчення української мови через широку різноманітну діяльність: ігри, танці, пісні, ручні роботи й екскурсії. Кожна дитина отримує спеціально підготовлений посібник, що добре сприяє збагаченню запасу українських слів.
Підчас літа багато різних організацій, груп і інституцій влаштовують в будинку Колеґії конференції, замовляють житло або й харчування.
Колеґія служить центром для наших українських православних студентів Манітобського Університету – тут їм затишно і вони чують себе як вдома. Це для них місце, де вони можуть зустріти і познайомитися з іншими студентами, взяти участь у наших різноманітних програмах, вдень чи вночі поговорити чи порадитися з нашим капеляном, або брати участь у молитовному житті Каплиці. Колеґія Св. Андрея насправді як "свій дім" для наших студентів на кампусі. Ми стали відомими як Український Православний Центр при Манітобському Університеті. |
Residence and Student Life
St. Andrew's College is a Member College of the University of Manitoba and also houses a residence for Ukrainian Orthodox and other students on the campus of the University of Manitoba. The residence and student life issues are the purview of our Residence Supervisor, Dobr. Genia Bozyk.
Residence statistics for the past five years can be seen on the accompanying chart.
The intimate, friendly, quiet Residence has large single, small single and double rooms available for 38 residents – men and women. The Residence rooms are furnished with the basic necessities for a comfortable study life, and the numerous College facilities available to the students make for a homey atmosphere catering to a wide variety of needs.
Both the Resident Student Council and the Theology Student Association, together with the College administration, promote and sponsor numerous sports, social, educational, religious and cultural activities (i.e. Ukrainian dance, choir, instrumental music, guest speakers, traditional cultural workshops such as pysanky, excursions, outreach on campus and to our youth in our Parishes,…).
The very successful St. Andrew's College Cultural Program, includes Ukrainian dance mixed choir, male chorus, and orchestra. In February, students and members of the Administration travel on concert tours performing in various communities.
The annual Student Exchange is held in February with participants from St. Andrew's College (Winnipeg), St. Petro Mohyla Institute (Saskatoon), St. John's Institute (Edmonton), and St. Vladimir's Institute (Toronto). During the three day exchange, the participants have the opportunity to have an open exchange of ideas, share experiences, and become acquainted in an academic, cultural and social atmosphere.
During the summers, the College holds a Ukrainian summer program, ―Mini-College‖ for children between the ages 6 and 12. Between 50 and 70 children have enrolled each year in the exciting two-week programs under the direction of the ―Mini- College‖ coordinator and instructors.
Programming includes Ukrainian language development skills through a wide variety of activities including vocabulary enhancements, arts and crafts, songs, sports, dance, games and excursions.
During the summer months, many different groups, organizations, and institutions book conferences, lodging, and food services at the College.
St. Andrew's College is a centre for our Ukrainian and Orthodox students at the University of Manitoba, where they feel comfortable and at home. We provide a place where they can meet other students, participate in our various programs, find counseling with our Chaplain day or night, and participate in our regular Chapel Liturgical cycle of services. St. Andrew's College is truly the ―home base‖ for our students on campus. We have developed our identity on campus and are known as the Ukrainian Orthodox centre at the University of Manitoba. |
Building Maintenance and Repairs - Догляд і ремонт будинку

Throughout the 5 year reporting period, various major repairs and improvements were made including the following:
The Courtyard Restoration Project was completed and included removal of old cement walkways which were replaced with interlocking stone. The project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from Mr. James Temerty and thanks to generous donations from the Franko family (in memory of Natalia Statychuk): Stefan Franko, Dr. Roma Franko, Roman & Alina Franko and Ivan & Karen Franko.
The condensate line for our heating system, from the College steam pit to the U of M main trunk, was excavated and repaired.
Alterations were made to the sanitary system with the installation of two new sewer accesses which allow for more efficient regular sewer maintenance.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Sir Thomas Cropo Foundation, all the curtains were replaced in the 38 residence rooms, the offices on the 2nd floor and the 3 classrooms.
Upgrades were made to the fire suppression system in the main kitchen so as to meet new fire code requirements.
A walk-in cooler was purchased and installed in the main kitchen.
New computers and a printer were purchased for the main office, thanks to donations from the Yorkton and Canora Chapters of the Order of St. Andrew.
The heating system circulation pump and two domestic hot water tank circulation pumps were replaced.
The black mold was pressure washed off the outside walls of the College, thanks to the work of Board Member Joe Achtemichuk.
New energy efficient lighting fixtures were installed at the exterior walkway and entrance doorways, thanks to a donation from the Long Branch Chapter of the Order of St. Andrew. |

Closing Remarks
