University of Manitoba - Canadian Materials Science Conference: Venue

In keeping with the current trend on moving westward, this year's annual CMS conference will be hosted by the University of Manitoba - Fort Gary Campus, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This should provide a unique experience as it places the conference in one of Western Canada's most culturally diverse and rapidly expanding cities. As well, it will serve to centralize the conference, whereby it is anticipated that Western participation will increase, while maintaining high Eastern Canadian attendance.

Situated alongside the Red River in the south of Winnipeg, the University of Manitoba has enjoyed a long and rich history as western Canada's oldest university, extending back to its establishment in 1877. Now approaching it's 125th anniversary, the university continues to expand both in breadth of academic programs, but also in infrastructure. It is with this progressive attitude that the University of Manitoba has established itself as a leader in Canadian post-secondary education and research.

On-site accommodations for conference delegates will be provided in Mary Speechly Hall, a two minute walk from the Faculty of Engineering where the presentation sessions of the conference will be held. Also located in this complex is the University Club, where those guests making use of the additional meal plan will enjoy meals prepared by the club's international award winning chef.

Update

Due to the limited number of rooms available in the recently renovated Mary Speechly Hall, additional lodgings will be provided for those who register later in Tache Hall. Rooms will be allocated on a first come-first served basis, so make sure you reserve yours early and register soon.

In addition, individuals who seek off-campus accommodations may wish to make use of a special offer extended to conference delegates through the Holiday Inn, located just north of the University of Manitoba.
