Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Position Satellite Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor, (#18242 ) for the NSERC/Magellan Aerospace Industrial Research Chair in Satellite Engineering (#18244). The anticipated start date is April 2015 and is dependent on confirmation as the NSERC/Magellan Aerospace Industrial Research Chair (http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Professors-Professeurs/CFS-PCP/IRC-PCI_eng.asp).
The successful candidate: 1) must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline; 2) must be a Professional Engineering in a Canadian Province/Territory or must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba; 3) will be expected to develop an externally funded research program on satellite engineering collaborative with Magellan Aerospace and other partners; 4) based on a reduced teaching load teach courses associated with satellite and aerospace engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and 5) must possess excellent communication and leadership skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with a demonstrated record of research and publications in one or more of the following areas: satellite systems integration, satellite structures and materials, satellite thermal control, orbital dynamics or attitude control.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (www.umanitoba.ca/mechanical) has twenty- eight faculty members, thirteen support staff, and approximately four hundred and seventy undergraduate and one hundred and forty graduate students. With Magellan Aerospace the Department is co-owner of a recently established 550 square metre (6000 square foot) Advanced Satellite Integration Facility which will be available to support the research program of the successful candidate.
